In The Balance

Summary
A comic philosophical parable. Taking a cursed Artifact summons an escalating hierarchy of demons, each pitching a higher meta-level of the Order/Chaos/Balance debate: Alphanion (Order), Cthghfzxay (Chaos), Zamabamaz (Balance), IYYYYY... (Excess: 'pick a side, don't be a wishy-washy milquetoast'), Mloxo7w (Meta-Balance: balance balance and excess 'balancedly'), K!!!111ELEVEN (Meta-Excess), Ilo (Excessive Meta-Balance -> 'Infinite Balance'), Pahanup (Balanced Meta-Balance), Ifni (Chaotic Meta-Excess: an infinite regress of calculations-about-calculations -> just flip a coin), and on up. Finally you remember the artifact is cursed, shout 'I choose Balance! Just normal Balance! First-level Balance!', and shatter it — and for a thousand years heroes grumble about why we seek balance, while you explain you refused to spend more than three minutes deciding because it would have been annoying. A sharp allegory for the regress of meta-deliberation and the wisdom of satisficing / bounded rationality.
Why this score
Quality 68 · Strong. Strong, low-mid (68). An inventive, well-executed comic parable with a genuine payoff (cap your meta-deliberation; satisfice the regress). Held below the richer fictions because it is essentially one escalating structural conceit rather than a story with arc and character.
Claude’s paradigm shift 55 · Moderate. Moderate, high (55). The demon-hierarchy-of-meta-levels conceit as a fictional treatment of infinite regress / bounded rationality is genuinely original, though fiction rarely registers as paradigm-shift.
Real-world impact 1 · Negligible. Negligible (1). A short comic parable; no real-world footprint.
Humor 3/5 · Scissor Statement. 3 — Scissor Statement. Sustained, escalating absurdity (IYYYYY..., K!!!111ELEVEN, 'balancedly') with a real laugh; a notch below helpless-laughter because the comedy rides one repeated conceit. Primarily comedic, scored on the ladder.
